MISSION AND CORE VALUES

Our mission and core values speak to who we are.

We provide young learners with a high-quality education in a safe, caring, fun, and stimulating environment that honors the unique talents of each child and nurtures a lifelong love of learning.

Four Core Values

CHMS’s core values are the embodiment of its mission. At CHMS, we live our core values every day: practicing safety, strengthening community, adhering to Montessori principles, and building character.

Safety

CHMS is meticulous about practicing safety. Montessori Guides show children how to be safe in various settings, including the Montessori environment, playground, and hallways, promoting safety both at CHMS and home. Students learn to use “walking feet” inside buildings, use “running feet” on the playground, and “gentle hands” when caring for one another. This fosters awareness of their body, surroundings, and personal space. Safety lessons prepare children to navigate new experiences successfully and with confidence.

Community

The strength of the CHMS community rests on establishing and building collaborative relationships among Montessori Guides, administration, and families. Montessori Guides engage in open communication and dialogues with families, forming a strong partnership to guide your child’s development. Relationships are strengthened through annual community-wide events and celebrations. We understand the importance of an engaged community in raising your treasure and opportunities to build connections with one another is vital to strengthening the fabric of the CHMS community.

Montessori Principles

CHMS follows eight fundamental Montessori principles to ensure a successful Montessori classroom experience for children and families. Most CHMS graduates entering Kindergarten or 1st grade can read and write on a 1st or 2nd-grade level and demonstrate proficiency in addition and/or subtraction. Children’s intrinsic motivation drives them to pursue challenges, celebrate achievements, and develop into well-rounded learners.

Character

Montessori Guides foster critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence in children, shaping character through engagement amongst students and Montessori lessons. The Montessori environment and philosophy of education goes beyond academics, emphasizing also essential life skills. This approach enables children to develop into proactive, prosocial, empathetic, and prepared community members.
