Our mission is to create a prepared environment, nurture and cultivate a love of learning, respect each child’s individual development, and encourage our students to undertake with confidence that which inspires him/her.
In 2000, Children’s House Montessori School opened its doors to its first preschoolers and our Head of School, Denise Touma, assumed the Head of School position. Today, CHMS has grown to four Montessori preschool environments and one Montessori toddler environment.
Our Montessori lead teachers and teacher assistants, from across the Globe, serve to help your child flourish in our Montessori environments. Our staff has a wide range of advanced credentials including, B.A.’s, M.A’s, and PhD’s. All lead teachers hold a Montessori credential from either the American Montessori Society (AMS) or the Association Montessori International (AMI). Many of our educators have taught at CHMS for more than 15 years, which supports our strong sense of community. We look forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary next year.
CHMS is a full member of the American Montessori Society (AMS) and we currently are completing the American Montessori Society School Accreditation. The American Montessori Society states that the “components necessary for a program to be considered authentically Montessori include multiage groupings that foster peer learning, uninterrupted blocks of work time, and guided choice of work activity. In addition, a full complement of specially designed Montessori learning materials are meticulously arranged and available for use in an aesthetically pleasing environment.”
